Chicken and Mushroom Pie

  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 JUS-Pastry RolsIMG_2088
  • 250 g mushrooms chopped
  • One large onion chopped (or two small onions)
  • 2 Chicken breasts chopped
  • Gravy granules
  • 280ml Double cream
  • Tablespoon flour
  • One egg yolk
  • Seasoning: Pinch of salt, pepper, or chili powder
  • Cheese (optional)

  1. Roll out one pastry and fit it on to the oven proof tray. (Make sure there are no holes and the tray is fully covered).
  2. Heat the oil in the frying pan, add the chopped onions and mushroomIMG_2096s until softened. Add seasoning salt/chili powder/pepper (whatever you prefer). Remove from frying pan and place on a plate.
  3. Add chicken to the frying pan, cook until it turns white. When the chicken is white, add mushrooms and onions back into the frying pan and continue cooking.
  4. Boil water, place 3 teaspoons of gravy granules into the jug of boiling water, mix until thick. Add gravy into the frying pan, mix and leave to simmer.
  5. Add 250ml of double cream, the colour of the mixture should now be white/cream. Leave it to simmer.
  6. Add one tablespoon of plain flour as a thickening agent, mix thoroughly to prevent any clots.
  7. Continue to let it simmer for a few minutes.
  8. Pour mixture into the oven tray.
  9. Add cheese on top if you prefer.
  10. Roll out the second puff pastry to cover the tray. With a fork make a few holes on the pastry to allow air through.
  11. Break an egg into a bowl, brush egg yolk onto the top of the pastry, which will cause the pastry to turn golden brown when cooked.
  12. Place in the oven for about 25-30 minutes… Enjoy!

MAYBELLINE Matte Lipstick Review

So, about a month ago I purchased three matte lipsticks from Maybelline. I sought for three different types of colours, a nude, a light orange/red and a dark plummy colour (my fav!) As I’ve been using them for a while now I thought I’d share my opinions on the products.

IMG_2298The lipsticks individually were £7 each. However I got  ‘3 for the price of 2’ which I found to be pretty good! The textures of the lipstick are slightly creamy and matte. Overall their good on, long-lasting, giving you a smooth look and wearing comfortable.

TIP: Always try on lipsticks to see how they look on you and how you feel wearing it, before purchasing.

DIVINE WINE. 975. This was my favourite purchase out of the three, a very dark plum like colour with a red undertone. I LOVE dark colours and this was just right for me. I felt this one also wore the best on, it was creamy, matte, long lasting smooth and doesn’t crack on your lips, leaving them dry! I’d really recommend this if you’re a fan off darker colours and want to wear it for an evening out or celebration. As it’s quite dark, it definitely places allot of attention on your lips.

RAVISHING ROSE. 538. My second favourite, this is one of those perfect colours if you want something on your lips but don’t want to be too out there! It’s not red and it’s not orange, it’s pretty much a mixture of the two. This one, I wear constantly. It gives off a slight gloss and shine when worn, it’s long lasting and feels comfortable on. Definitely my go to lipstick!

SWATCHES: Two swipes each

NUDE EMBRACE. 930. I’d describe the colour as a light light nude. Out of the three, I’d probably say this was my least favorite. I feel this is quite chipping and makes your lips look dry, it doesn’t last on too long and fades away. However, it is also because I have a light complexion and so you can’t really tell when I’m wearing this. I opt to mix it with my darker nude, making it more apparent. If this does however suit you, it would make for a perfect everyday nude!

Finished College… What now?

SO, you’ve just finished college, -or are about to. What do you do now? University? Take a gap year? Apprenticeship? Courses? Work full time? Travel?

It’s confusing when there are so many people telling you different things, advising you from their experiences or personal views on life, ‘This will help you in the future, trust me’.

Just for a second, STOP. Do your research. Ask yourself ‘what do I want?’ What you believe will help you, empower you? Drive you? Always keeping your standards high, of course. 😉 It’s okay to ask for the views of others, but don’t let it indulge you, overwhelm you and take over your mind.

If you want to go to university then go for it, if it’s work then go for it, if its an apprenticeship then you do that, whatever makes you happy, whatever drives you to get out of bed every morning,  making the most of each second. You do it. You, do you.

Find what you love and let it kill you –Bukowski

If you’re not yet 100% sure, it’s fine, breath. It’ll be okay. Consider taking a year out, allowing yourself to delve into different opportunities, benefiting from different experiences, finding what suits you.

Try planning your year, listing what you want accomplished at the end of the 365 days. Find a job (it may be hard, but worth it) have some money coming in, look into courses which may interest you, volunteer, travel, learn to cook, ride a bike, learn to drive, make time for friends and family, whatever YOU want! Have fun -enjoy life. Remember a ‘gap year’ is probably the longest ‘holiday’ you’ll ever have, do everything you’ve always wanted. Your tomorrow is today.

Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are, keep working on yourself, don’t worry about others or compare situations. We’re all different, learn to accept yourself. BUKOWSKI
